Italy seizes Russian billionaire’s pleasure boat

Italian police have seized a large pleasure boat owned by Russian tycoon Andrei Igorevich Melnichenko. Italy’s prime minister’s office said the boat had been kept in the country’s northern port since the seizure.
Earlier, billionaire Andrei Igorevich Melnichenko was named in the European Union’s (EU) sanctions list. The 143-meter (460-foot) pleasure boat is valued at 530 million euros. This was reported by Al-Jazeera on Saturday.
Italy’s finance minister, Daniel Franco, says Italian police have seized more than 700 million euros worth of homes and pleasure boats belonging to high-ranking Russian citizens on EU sanctions in the past week.
It is to be noted that Saturday is the 17th day of Russia’s operation in Ukraine. Earlier, on February 24, Russian troops launched a military operation in Ukraine at the behest of Russian President Vladimir Putin. As part of the operation, Ukraine is being attacked by land, air and sea. The Ukrainian army has also been trying to resist since the operation began. There is a bloody conflict between the two sides.
