German Foreign Minister Analena Bayerbock said on Wednesday that more Strella missiles had been sent to Ukraine despite delays in supplies.
Germany has moved away from its historic policy of not sending weapons to war-torn areas in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. They have started providing arms assistance to Ukraine.
Strella missiles are weapons of the former communist East German army. These lightweight missiles can be launched from the ground into the sky and can be fired from the shoulder. Airplanes flying low can easily be its target.
In the past few days, Ukraine has significantly increased its military demand to the United States, CNN reported. The country is mainly seeking anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles.
