Missile strikes destroy Ukraine’s air defenses

Russian troops have demanded the destruction of Ukraine’s air defense system called Bak. Russia’s Defense Ministry released a video on Saturday. It shows the destruction of Ukraine’s air defenses using short-range Iskander ballistic missiles fired by Russia. The video shows how Ukraine’s speech system was destroyed by a huge explosion.
The United Kingdom has warned that Russian troops will continue to bomb various cities.
Russian troops occupy the northern Ukrainian city of Slavutich. The city is home to workers at the inactive Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Kiev’s regional governor Oleksandr Pavliak made the announcement in a telegram on Saturday.
The news agency Reuters reported that Governor Pavliak did not elaborate, although he acknowledged losing control of the town of Slavutich. There was no immediate comment from Moscow.
On Friday, Ukraine’s regional governor said Russian forces had isolated the northern city of Chernihiv.
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again called on Russia to negotiate a ceasefire. However he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat Al Qaeda.
