NATO says troops are being sent to Norway, a European country. There they will take part in a military exercise.
The news came on the 17th day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
About 30,000 troops, 200 warplanes and 50 ships from 28 countries are expected to take part in the Cold Response-2022 military exercise.
The military exercise will start on March 14. The exercise will be just a few hundred kilometers away from the Russian border. Although the exercise schedule was set long ago, it has now taken on a different dimension due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Norwegian Defense Minister Od Roger Enoxen said the exercise was crucial to the security of Norway and its allies.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a military operation in the Donbass region of Ukraine. Since then, tensions between Russia and NATO countries have been simmering.
