Russia threatens to cut off gas supplies to Europe
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with the German Chancellor. Germany then said that the Russian president had agreed to pay the price of gas in euros

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with the German Chancellor. Germany then said that the Russian president had agreed to pay the price of gas in euros. But within 24 hours, Russia made its position clear once again.
On Thursday (March 31), Putin said that Russia would have to pay the price of gas in rubles. If the arrears are not paid quickly, Russia will be forced to shut down its gas lines.
Putin has said that all countries that take gas from Russia will pay their arrears quickly. He said Russia would be forced to cancel the current agreement if it did not pay.
According to Putin, Brussels has imposed multiple sanctions on Russia. As a result, people in many European countries are facing an extremely uncertain future. Then they will face more crisis.
Germany imports about 55% of its gas from Russia. They say they are ready to pay Russia for gas in euros. They don’t even mind talking about the price in dollars. But Russia is blackmailing more than the ruble.
According to the French finance minister, Paris and Berlin have already begun talks on how to proceed if Russia shuts off its gas lines.
Meanwhile, the major economies are scheduled to meet in Indonesia in November this year. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said he does not want Russia to attend the meeting. He said he had discussed the matter with the Indonesian head of state.
According to Trudeau, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has once again put the world’s economy in crisis. Russia has to take all the responsibility. And that is why Russia should boycott the G20 summit.
