Arms delivery convoys are “legitimate targets” in the eyes of the Russian military, Moscow has warned.
The warning is clear: Moscow could target international arms deliveries in support of Ukraine, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister warned on Saturday. “ We have warned the United States that the delivery of arms which it orchestrates from a number of countries is not only a dangerous move, it is an act which makes the mentioned convoys legitimate targets ”, warned Sergei Ryabkov in an interview with the Pervy Kanal television channel, citing in particular portable air defense systems and anti-tank missile systems.
Moreover, the deputy minister declared that the “ security guarantees ” demanded by Russia from the West, including the assurance that Ukraine would never join NATO, were no longer valid. “ The situation has changed completely. The question now is to obtain the implementation of the objectives of our leaders ,” he said, referring to the “ demilitarization ” of Ukraine that the Kremlin is calling for.
” If the Americans are willing, we can of course resume the dialogue ,” he nevertheless added, specifying that Moscow was ready in particular on the subject of the Start agreements to limit nuclear arsenals. ” It’s all up to Washington ,” he said.
