Western officials have spoken of seven Russian generals who were killed during an attack in Ukraine. He also said that one general has been sacked. News AFP.
A Western official (AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity) says Lieutenant General Yakov Rezanstev, commander of Russia’s 49 Combined Arms Army, was killed recently.
The Western official added that the Kremlin had fired General Vlaislav Yershov, commander of Russia’s Sixth Combined Armed Forces, a week ago. The general was fired after a month-long operation in neighboring Ukraine caused heavy casualties and policy failures.
Among the other generals killed was General Megomod Tushayev of the Chechen Special Forces. He was recruited by Putin to fight in Ukraine.
