Saudi Arabia holds the record for most executions in a single day

Saudi Arabia on Saturday executed 61 people convicted of various crimes, including murder and joining militant groups. This is the highest execution in a single day in the modern history of the country. The US news agency AP reported.
According to the report, the number of executions carried out on Saturday has surpassed the events of 1970. At that time, 63 people accused of occupying the Grand Mosque in Mecca were beheaded and executed.
The state news agency Saudi Press Agency reported the execution on Saturday. According to the report, those convicted of various crimes ranging from killing innocent men, women and children have been executed.
Some of those executed are supporters of al-Qaeda, the Islamic State group, and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The report added that Saudi Arabia would continue to take strong action against terrorism and militant ideology.
Earlier, in January 2016, Saudi Arabia executed 47 people. Besides, 36 Saudi nationals were beheaded in 2019.
