For a limited period, Pokemon Sun or Moonplayers will be able to get Ash’s Pikachu (or Pikashunium Z) via Mystery Gift.

It’s Ash’s cap worn by a Pikachu, but trainers might have to wait to claim the code, depending on what hat they choose for their Pikachu.

How to Get Ash’s Pikachu

Step 1 : Connect your Nintendo 3DS to the internet. Then, fire up Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Step 2 Select the Mystery Gift option from the main menu.

Step 3 – After you have selected the Mystery Gift option, select Receive Gift

Step 4 – Enter your code/password to get started. Next, choose Yes, then another Yes to go online.

Step 5 Enter the code PIKACHU20.

Step 6 – Find the delivery man at the Pokemon Center to collect Ash’s Pikachu. If you don’t see him, look for the person in a yellow shirt and blue shorts.

You can get only one Ash’s Pikachu variant, although there are six other variations. You should also save your game once you have your Pikachu.

Here’s an example of the cap Ash’s Pikachu will wear based on how you used the code.

  • Original Cap available between Sept. 19-25* Hoenn Cap available between Sept. 26-Oct. 2,
  • Oct. 3-9: Sinnoh Cap
  • Unova Cap available between Oct. 10-16
  • From Oct. 17 to 23: Kalos Cap
  • Oct. 24–30: Alola Cap

Apart from the different caps, each Ash’s Pikachu variant will have its own set of moves. This is based on the moves Pikachu would use most often in each region, according to the anime. Ash’s Pikachu will, for example, have a skill set that includes moves it used in Kanto and Johto.

“These Pikachu are special because they’re wearing one of Ash’s hats – each one reflecting the hat Ash wore when they explored the different regions of Pokemon TV and movies over the past twenty years.” The Pokemon Company states.

This giveaway celebrates Pokemon: I Choose You! which has a limited theatrical run.

The Pikashinium Z will be held by the Pikachu that you receive. It doesn’t really matter which Pikachu you choose, all will have it.

What is Pikashunium Z?

Pikashunium Z, the Z-Crystal that allows Pikachu the special Z-Move 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. However, to use it, the Pokémon must know the move Thunderbolt.

It’s worth noting that Ash’s Pikachu made it to Pokémon GO during the anniversary event in July.

It is also worth noting that the New Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition will be great with Ash’s Pikachu. Unfortunately, it is only available in Japan.
