The State is committed to protecting the human rights of older women, says Minister Castillo

The Minister of Social Development, María Inés Castillo, presided over the results of the Study on Violence Against Elderly Women, which yielded important data for the development of a public policy aimed at protecting the integrity and rights of this population.
According to research carried out by researchers, lawyers, sociologists, social workers and psychologists, 87.8% of those surveyed indicated that older women may suffer from violence, while 63.6% stated that they knew women affected by violence.
The women consulted were housewives, public administrators, retirees, teachers, manual workers, secretaries, seamstresses, artisans, among others. Most of them, that is, 54.5%, were between the ages of 66 and 76, while 51.5% were women with children.
