The West is ‘trying to get rid of Russia’: Putin, Rowling
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the West of "trying to destroy Russia." He also quotes Harry Potter author JK Rowling as proof of the West's culture of abandonment.

Putin, referring to Rowling’s name, said Russia, like the British author, was a victim of the West’s “void culture.”
According to the BBC, in a speech broadcast on Russian television on Friday, Putin made the remarks while talking about the country’s literature and music.
“Today they are trying to destroy our thousand-year-old country,” he said. They are trying to destroy our culture and the people of our country. ”
Putin called the West’s actions a “culture of cancellation.” Putin, referring to popular British writer JK Rowling, said Rowling had been a victim of the culture.
Rowling has been widely criticized in Europe for her recent comments on the gender issue. His comments were allegedly insulting to transgender people. In that case, the controversy escalated when Rowling tweeted in support of his statement. Many potter-lovers also called for a boycott of Rowling.
Referring to the issue, Putin said that they had recently fired Rowling, author of the “Harry Potter” series of children’s literature. Because he could not satisfy the voices of the West in demanding gender rights.
Putin also compared the West’s culture of abolition to Nazism, saying that in the 1930s, Nazis burned books in Germany. The same thing is happening with Russia. “It is impossible to think of such activities in our country,” he said.
