US President Joe Biden’s envoy Dalip Singh and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit India.
US Deputy National Security Adviser Dalip Singh is scheduled to arrive in the Indian capital, Delhi, on Thursday evening (April 6). On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Delhi.
Dalip Singh looks at the issue of international economy. His role in the imposition of financial sanctions against Russia was crucial. He is currently in China. From there he will travel to India for a two-day visit.
The White House said in a statement that the reason for his (Dalip Singh’s) arrival in India was to discuss the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework after Russia’s unjustified invasion of Ukraine.
The White House also said Duleep would discuss with Indian officials the impact of Russia’s attack on Ukraine on the world economy. He will brief India on the Biden administration’s priorities. Talk about the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. He will also discuss India-US financial relations.
A White House spokesman said the two plus two meetings between the foreign and defense ministers would be held in Washington next month. Dalip will also talk about his preparations. Jayashankar and Rajnath Singh will travel to Washington to talk to Blinken and Lloyd Austin.
However, sources said that the main purpose of Duleep’s visit to India would be to discuss the Ukraine crisis. So far, India has not voted against Russia at the UN. US President Biden recently slammed India’s position. As a result, the United States would naturally want to discuss the issue with India.
UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss may also visit India on Thursday.
Meetings with representatives of Afghanistan’s neighbors began in China on Wednesday (March 30th). The meeting will continue on Thursday. Lavrov attended that meeting. Then he was supposed to come to India. He may meet Indian Foreign Minister Jayashankar on April 1.
Sources say that it is very important for Russia to have India on its side now. Because one country after another has raised its voice in the international arena about Russia’s attack on Ukraine and has imposed sanctions. They voted in favor of the resolution against Russia at the UN. As a result, Russia has become quite cornered. But India has not once condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine. They did not vote against Russia at the UN. They abstained from voting.
