Women in the border guards in Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, the country’s women are getting the opportunity to join the border guards. The application process has started for this purpose. The country’s interior ministry said on Thursday.
The Saudi-based news agency Arab News quoted the ministry as saying that women would be able to apply to join the border guards from Saturday. The opportunity to apply will remain until next Thursday.
Earlier, in February last year, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense offered women the opportunity to join the armed forces. As a result, women will be able to join the country’s army, air force and navy, as well as sergeants in various positions.
After the decision of the Ministry of Defense, women started joining the armed forces of Saudi Arabia. Last September, the first batch of women soldiers came out of the country’s Armed Forces’ Cadre Training Center after 14 weeks of training.
As part of the implementation of ‘Vision 2030’ initiated by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, women are being given various opportunities to bring reforms in Saudi society. By fulfilling this goal, Prince Salman wants to bring about reforms in the ultra-conservative Saudi society as well as diversification in the energy-dependent economy.
