In a tweet, Zelensky said he had sought Bennett’s help in freeing the mayor of Melitopol. Ukraine claims the mayor of Melitopol was captured by Russian forces last Friday.
Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They discussed the Ukraine war. Shortly after his meeting with Putin, Bennett spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
An Israeli official said Prime Minister Bennett was in talks with the United States, France and Germany to mediate the Ukraine war.
